Oh yeah, Anykey, edit your posts, please. Let's just agree that the ideal computer is a dual boot of OS X and Vista.

...and libux for programming (and it's open-source)! Unix is pretty secure.

Unix and Linux are similar enough that both are ideal for programming purposes. Have you ever used VI or EMACS? You gotta' try it! Text editing with those programs is pretty cool.
I agree, a dual-boot is ideal.

I'll try to look for it; my school as some pretty new Macs.

i never got into vi or emacs. But picking between the two, vi is much better. It's an entirely different coding experience than the regular windows point and click then type idea. Instead of vi, use vim, btw. It's a bit better. Oh, and bfr, they're traditional unix console-based programs, but you can find both windows and mac versions if you look around. Just do a google search.

basically, use a dual-boot if you're an avarage user who wants security, but Unix if you're a programmer, because simple people may find it hard to use

Sort of. If you kind of re-phrase what you said, it would make more sense. I think you mean dual-boot with Unix? What you said: Unix instead of dual-boot if you're a programmer.

Actually, the best boot would be Windows XP, Windows Vista, OS X, Unix, and Linux.
I don't really like vi or vim.

Use the edit function =p. You mean something that uses Unix? Also, why Windows XP AND Windows Vista? Heck, if there wasn't a limit on the amount of boots, the best would be to include every OS.

Windows XP and Vista because of possible compatibility issues.

i think finding a single boot option is the best, but having a double boot backup is good too. I'd reccomend only one windows os, and then one open source, like linux or bsd.

EXACTLY
*cough VLADIK cough*
According to what you're saying, we should all get Windows 95 too, because of compatibly issues.
I agree with what bcherry said.
