In case you are wondering which calc to buy between the TI-83+ and the TI-84, this poll might help you out.

My vote is the 83+, because the 84 is just a new case, a clock and added unnecessary apps in three different languages. It basically wastes 30 dollars. the 83 Plus has enough memory for a z80 calc, to me.

Note that the there is a direct line of sucession here:
82->83->83+->84+...
The 82 came first, then the 83 was simply an improved 82, but not too different. The 83+ is the same kind of step up over the 83, but TI realized from a marketing standpoint, the + is better than making it the 84. The 84 line is simply an extension of the 82/83 line, because they weren't going to make an 83++. Note that there is no "84", only and "84+" and "84+SE". This is because it is still the same family, and from a marketing standpoint again, that plus is now neccesary to seem like an improvement over 83+. Therefore the 84 line could be seen as 83++, and 83 as 82+, so we are looking at the difference between 82++ (83+), and 82+++(84+), and from that standpoint it should seem clear that the 84+ is the superior calculator. (Although I still love my old 83).
