That happenned to me before with my TI-86....then I realized that the cord wasn't pushed in far enough after a couple of days . Try to push the link into the TI-83+ hard, until you here a clicking sound, or at least mine makes a sort of click. I hope this helps. If it still doesn't work, on the options of the TI-Connect sofware or whatever be sure that it is in the right port, and you must select the "TI-83+" from the choices of which calculator. You also must select the right link. For example, if you have a Black Serial Link then you must select the "Black Serial Link" from the dropdown menu. Or something like that. Good luck!

Also, you may not have hooked it up to the computer tightly enough. Once, I took my cable out to put in another computer. When I was finished with that computer, I went back to the original. And I saw that it did not work at all. I tried doing everythig possible with TI Connect's setting-to no effect. Finally, I had the idea to check the cable-to-computer connection. I saw that the cable was plugged in, but I pushed it as hard as possible. The next minute, my cable started working. Hope this helps!

now, the last thing I want to see is if you have version 5 or 6 installed. Is it version 1.5.xxx or 1.5 or 1.6?

this happened to me a lot as well. Try unplugging and replugging all cables for a bit. Uninstall and reinstall TI-Connect. If that doesn't work, check if your OS has the TI-83 Plus installed on its system.

Do you have a TI-GRAPH LINK or a TI-SERIAL LINK? Because they each require different software. This might be the probelm....
If you have the graphi link then TI connect probably won't work.

Uninstall TI Connect and install it again, removing the cable. Put the cable in and connect it firmly to both the calculator and the computer. Click-and-drag the file you want to send to your TI Connect icon. It should bring up a detection screen, scanning your ports and finally finding your calculator.

By 83 plus installed on the system I mean that the PC check and installs a driver for the actual hardware so you can connect to it from the computer.

If you have the graphi link then TI connect probably won't work. don't give the man the wrong idea! If you have the TI-GRAPH LINK (Serial Cable) that is black, you can use both. The USB doesn't work with TI-GRAPH LINK software. USB only works with TI Connect. And bfr, thewre is no such thing as a TI-SERIAL LINK... BOTTOM LINE: UNPLUG, REPLUG the cable; UNINSTALL, REINSTALL the software. If that doesn't work, contact TI tech support (email)
